Inaugrual meeting of the UK Fungal Network

"Theoretical Approaches to Understanding Biological Networks"

Date & Venue: Thursday 17th April 2008, Saïd Business School, University of Oxford .

Workshop details

The workshop brought together scientists from a range of background with a common interest in the form and function of biological networks, with mycelial fungi forming the focus. It built upon the analysis of saprotrophic networks undertaken in the EU MMCOMNET project and the links already established in other domains. It has become increasingly apparent that our understanding of these networks can be significantly enhanced by multi-scale-multi-disciplinary approaches. The objective of the workshop was to take stock of the variety of techniques that are at present being developed in different areas and to see how these could combine to better effect. The overall aim was to explore the possibility of a more coherent approach to collaborations across disciplines and between institutions.
