Geoff Gadd

Professor Geoffrey M. Gadd is a microbiologist who works on the interactions of fungi, and other microorganisms, towards toxic metals, metalloids and radionuclides. This work has lead to an understanding of the processes underlying accumulation, detoxification and tolerance, as well as mechanisms that alter metal mobility and fate in the environment. The environmental and biotechnological significance of these phenomena continues to be a focus, particularly in biogeochemical studies on mineral formation and dissolution, and in the bioremediation of polluted soil and water.
