Diego Garlaschelli

He has a background in theoretical physics, and received a Degree in Physics at the University of Rome III and a PhD in Physics at the University of Siena. He has been a visiting fellow at the Department of Applied Mathematics, Australian National University in Canberra and a postdoctoral research assistant at the Department of Physics, University of Siena.

Diego's main research interests are complex networks and statistical mechanics, with applications to biological and socio-economic systems.
He contributed to the empirical characterisation of the topology of food webs and economic networks, and developed various theoretical models of directed, weighted, and adaptive networks.

Diego authored several journal articles and book chapters on these subjects, and served as a referee for many interdisciplinary journals.
