University of Leiden

He has a background in theoretical physics, and received a Degree in Physics at the University of Rome III and a PhD in Physics at the University of Siena. He has been a visiting fellow at the Department of Applied Mathematics, Australian National University in Canberra and a postdoctoral research assistant at the Department of Physics, University of Siena.

Diego's main research interests are complex networks and statistical mechanics, with applications to biological and socio-economic systems.
He contributed to the empirical characterisation of the topology of food webs and economic networks, and developed various theoretical models of directed, weighted, and adaptive networks.
